Lubnan Baalbaki

Adjunct Lecturer in Performing Arts

Lubnan Baalbaki is an orchestra conductor, producer, arranger, and speaker, serving as the permanent conductor of the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra.

His journey in music began at an early age with violin studies at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music in Beirut, and culminated with a Master’s in Orchestra Conducting from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and a PhD from the National University of Music in Bucharest.

Baalbaki is acclaimed for his refined artistry and leadership. His career spans collaborations with leading artists including Majida El Roumi, Marcel Khalife, Thomas Hampson and Plácido Domingo, and appearances at major international festivals, continuously championing music as a bridge between cultures and generations.

  • Lecturer on Western Music
    Lebanese American University
    Teaching the Survey of Western Music course, which includes providing a comprehensive overview of the historical development and major musical styles from the Middle Ages to the contemporary period, with the aim of promoting academic musical education.

  • Permanent Conductor
    Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra
    Conductor of the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra’s weekly concerts in addition to selected festivals and performances throughout the orchestra’s season. Also serves on the Artistic Committee in charge of co-planning the orchestra’s season program.

    Beirut Ensemble Orchestra
    Founder and conductor of the Beirut Ensemble Orchestra, Baalbaki’s main vehicle for collaborations with renowned artists as well as appearances in national and international festivals.

    Established, and to this day directs, Lebanon’s National Youth Orchestra, nurturing young talent and promoting music education throughout the country.
